I’m Khushi Bothra, an MSc student in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Derby. My journey into mental health began with my BA in Psychology and English Literature, but it was my hands-on experiences, interning at mental health NGOs and working as a trainee therapist that truly deepened my passion. I’ve had the privilege of supporting clients, engaging in case discussions, and developing strong communication, active listening, and cultural competence skills, all of which have reinforced my belief in the power of therapy.
I’m particularly drawn to trauma-focused work, as I believe that healing is a deeply personal journey that requires empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity. Creating a safe and inclusive space where individuals feel seen and heard is at the heart of my approach. My goal is to build a culturally competent practice that bridges gaps in mental health support, ensuring that therapy is accessible and meaningful for diverse communities. I want to keep growing, learning, and creating spaces where people feel truly heard and empowered.
