Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed to help people suffering from high or intense emotions as well as those who need to change patterns of behaviour that are not helpful, such as self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and substance abuse.
DBT is a proactive form of Psychotherapy that includes Psychoeducational tools, namely; Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Distress Tolerance and Emotional Regulation. The approach aims to help individuals reach a balance between acceptance and change and can help regulate emotions as well as manage destructive behaviours.
DBT is recognised as the gold standard psychological treatment proven to be effective for a wide range of mental health conditions including Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and is recommended by NICE as an effective psychological therapy.

Our DBT Informed Services
Our trained team of DBT Practitioners have vast experience of working with clients who present with mood disorders including personality disorders.
Our DBT programme involves firstly an initial period of assessment and orientation where we will assess whether DBT is an appropriate and suitable form of therapy for you. You will then be assigned a Primary Therapist and attend both individual therapy sessions and a group where you will learn the ‘DBT Skills’.
If you would like further information or would like to book an initial assessment to see if DBT informed therapy is an appropriate treatment option for you, please contact us.

When someone you love and care about struggles to regulate their emotions it can be hard to know what to do or say to help. We offer support services to the friends and family of those with BPD / EUPD and Emotional Hypersensitivity. Please see our Friends and Family Page for more information.
“Before attending DBT I felt that my emotions ruled how each day would be and it was a constant fight to cope with them or just a collapsing feeling. Now I realise that there are strategies that really work; skills for using both in advance of difficult emotional situations and ones for dealing with an escalation of difficult feelings in the moment. It has given me much more hope about my life and some confidence in myself.”
