Anger Management Service
We offer a specialist Anger Management Therapy Service to assist individuals who identify as having problematic, or difficult to control anger.
During our Anger Management Programme you will explore when, how and why anger becomes a problem and then be introduced to management techniques to help prevent unwanted reactions to anger triggers.
Anger is a basic human emotion that we all have, however for some people it can be hard to manage and can cause serious problems in life and relationships. For these people anger has often become an automatic response to communicating emotion in relationships, so doing something about it before relationships suffer is vital.

Our Approach to Anger Management
Anger is an important emotion which gives us the energy we need to take action to put something right. We therefore never work to stop anger completely, rather we assist our clients to understand their individual triggers, the difference between anger and rage, and to learn how to communicate and channel the emotion in a way that is beneficial rather than destructive.
Our approach aims to recognise why some people struggle to regulate their anger, by understanding the history of the anger as well as the present problems . By understanding the history of the anger we can learn some of the triggers to problematic anger, however, knowing our triggers doesn’t stop us being ‘triggered’ which is where management techniques are useful. Our programme incorporates Psychoeducation and specific techniques from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) as well as other psychological theories to provide the tools to interrupt the vicious cycle of problematic anger.
” Having previously identified as ‘an angry person’, I quickly came to realise though my anger management sessions that I actually knew very little about my anger, and that sometimes even though I displayed anger, it wasn’t actually anger I was feeling. I thought I was going to get a few simple coping strategies but left with knowledge, insight, techniques and a whole new approach to communicating my feelings.”

How It Works
The first session is an initial assessment to assess suitability and motivation for changing behaviours. During this appointment we are ensuring a structured anger management approach is right for you rather than an alternative such as counselling, CBT or other therapy. Should anger management be suitable then our trained anger management therapists will organise a series of follow-up sessions usually 10 however sometimes a little more or less pending how you progress through the course.
Court Proceedings
Should you be involved in court proceedings and have been requested to attend anger management then we can provide an attendance certificate to verify your attendance and completion of our programme. Should you require us to produce a court report then this will be quoted based on information required.
