TA 101: An Introduction to the Main Theoretical Concepts of Transactional Analysis

With John Monk-Steel, RMN, RGN, CTA (P), TSTA (P), UKCP reg. Psychotherapist
on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September 2018

This course is the official TA 101, recognised by the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA) and the European Association for Transactional Analysis. Completion of this course will provide you with the official TA 101 certification.

Psychological health and our ability to get what we want in life is dependant on how we treat ourselves and others. In this two-day training event we will explore ways of understanding ourselves, other people and the patterns of our relationships using the popular and engaging model of Transactional Analysis.

Transactional Analysis (TA) is a model of understanding human behaviour, particularly in respect of our relationships. This introductory course will examine the theory of TA and will explore natural patterns of communication and offer opportunities to develop effective interpersonal dialogs. The course will reflect on the decisions we make about ourselves and others considering the assumptions we make about relationships during our own development. In TA it is assumed that part of us remains in ‘child mode’ throughout the lifespan and that we act out our younger emotional needs in adult life which is identifiable by the times in life whereby we experience elevated and sometimes disproportional positive or negative attitudes.

We will examine the ways people have developed coping strategies for dealing with the stresses and strains of life. We will also explore the various ways people may limit themselves so that they do not get what they want, and we will also look at ways those patterns may be changed.

The course is designed to be interactive and engaging and is an internationally recognised foundation in TA core principles.

Who Should Attend?

This course can be used for personal development, and is suited to those working in organisational or educational settings who wish to better understand interpersonal and group dynamics.
